SYMPTOMS OF MELANOMA SKIN CANCER FROM 9/11
Everyone’s skin is unique and undergoes some change over time. Most people have moles or spots. Paying attention to your skin and monitoring changes of your skin can help identify melanomas and other skin cancers. The American Cancer Society advises to look out for new spots on the skin or spots that change in color, size, or shape. Jagged borders of spots, changes in texture, and sores that do not heal should be reported to your medical professional to check for melanoma.
MALIGNANT NEOPLASMS OF THE SKIN
Malignant neoplasms of the skin are non-melanoma skin cancers, and are common types of skin cancer. Often malignant neoplasms of the skin are basal cell carcinoma or squamous cell carcinoma.
Basal cell carcinoma is often found in skin that is exposed to the sun. Even after treatment and removal of the cancer, basal cell carcinoma can occur again. Continual monitoring of the skin is important to the patient’s ongoing treatment and health.
Squamous cell carcinoma occurs when damaging agents affect the skin. One of the dangers of squamous cell carcinoma is that the lesions associated with this type of cancer can be difficult to spot on your own. Even though squamous cell carcinoma is usually slow growing, it can easily spread to other areas of the body.
