9/11 Benefits for Students

The collapse of the World Trade Center on 9/11 released a cloud of dust that blanketed Lower Manhattan, exposing everyone in the area to toxins for months after the attacks. As such, benefits under the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund (VCF) are widely available to anyone who lived, worked, or studied within the NYC exposure zone, including students of all educational institutions within the zone.

These men and women may be eligible for benefits due to health conditions and diseases that may have developed as a result of breathing in the debris toxins for an extended period of time. A 9/11 lawyer at our firm can help students who were near Ground Zero in the aftermath of September 11th.

NEW YORK STUDENT ELIGIBILITY FOR 9/11 BENEFITS

VCF benefits are available to anyone present within the NYC exposure zone (generally Lower Manhattan below Canal Street) between September 11, 2001, and May 30, 2002, including presence at a school or other educational institution. There is no minimum amount of time an individual needed to be present at the site for the purposes of confirming presence. Any student who studied within the NYC Exposure Zone and who has a qualifying condition may be eligible for VCF benefits on the same basis as other survivors and first responders.
