The Importance of Meeting the July 29 VCF Deadline
There is less than one month left to meet the July 29 deadline to register with the Victims Compensation Fund (VCF) and protect your rights to file a future claim. If you or a loved one were in Lower Manhattan, south of Houston Street, and exposed to toxic dust between September 11, 2001 and July 31, 2002, you may be eligible for benefits. But you must register by July 29, or you may lose your chance to exercise your rights in the future.
Why the deadline is important?
Last year, the VCF extended the registration deadline for 9/11 victims and their families to July 29, 2021. The July 29 deadline allows many downtown area residents, workers, students, volunteers and first responders who were exposed to toxic dust and contaminants from the World Trade Center attacks to register with the VCF and protect their rights to file a future claim.
